What happens when I open an old MS Office document in
Office 2007?
Office 2007 contains the same applications as previous versions of Office (Word, Excel, Access, Powerpoint, Outlook & Publisher), but there are a number of differences between the old and new versions.
When you open an old Office document in Office 2007, Compatibility Mode is turned on. In Compatibility Mode, you can open, edit, and save old Office documents in their original formats, but you won't be able to use any of the new Office 2007 features.
If you would like to find out more about Office 2007, visit the training section, http://infoservices.neu.edu/training, of our website to register for instructor-led training right here on campus, or access online training directly from Microsoft.
I am a current or admitted student. How can I get free antivirus software?
If you are a current or admitted student , visit myNEU to download your free copy of Symantic antivirus. Please make sure that you have antivirus installed on your computer before you arrive to campus and that your virus definitions are up to date.
What is myApps and how do I use it?
The myApps pilot is a part of Northeastern On Demand NU Information Services' Award-winning concept in mobile delivery. myApps allows faculty, staff and students to use the computer applications they need when they need them. Using myApps is easy for both Windows and Mac users, but it is necessary to use the Remote Desktop Connection Client to access myApps applications. Click the below links to try out the myApps pilot.
What will I need to access the Internet and Cable TV in my residence hall room?

What is the NUwave wireless expansion project?
In September, the Boston campus will have 100% wireless internet coverage with the exception of residence hall rooms and apartments where students have high speed direct network connectivity through ResNet. This dramatic expansion of our current NUwave service provides both open and secure Internet access to internal systems for those individuals with myNEU userids and passwords. The project will be completed at the start of the fall 2007 semester. You can visit our wireless information page page to find out how to use wireless on campus.
